Sources & translations

Scroll My Faith aims to make source information visible rather than treating every rendering as interchangeable.

How sources are handled

We identify the scripture, language and translation or source edition wherever possible. For the principles behind source selection, contextual summaries and modern-language renderings, see our editorial policy.

Christianity

English passages currently use the King James Version (1611) where represented in the starter corpus. Spanish uses public-domain Bible wording where available.

Islam

English Qur’an passages in the starter corpus use the Pickthall translation (1930). Arabic passages are shown in Arabic script.

Hinduism

English Bhagavad Gita passages use the Besant & Das public-domain translation (1905). Sanskrit passages use source-language text.

Buddhism

English Dhammapada passages use the F. Max Müller public-domain translation (1881). Pāli is presented as source-language text where available.

Judaism

English Tanakh passages use the JPS 1917 translation in the starter corpus. Hebrew passages are shown in Hebrew script.

Sikhism

English starter passages draw from public-domain Macauliffe-era translations. Gurmukhi passages are presented in the original script where available.

Taoism

English Tao Te Ching passages use James Legge’s public-domain translation (1891). Classical Chinese is shown where available.

Important: Some modern-language renderings in this prototype are labeled as Scroll My Faith renderings and should be reviewed by qualified speakers before a broad public launch.
