Hardship and hope in the Qur’an
The Qur’an repeatedly addresses difficulty, patience, responsibility and trust. One of the best-known short passages is Qur’an 94:5, commonly translated as a statement that ease accompanies hardship.
Because the Qur’an is read as a connected revelation rather than a collection of standalone quotations, a single ayah is best understood together with the surrounding surah.
Translation matters
Muslims regard the Arabic Qur’an as the revealed text, while translations communicate meaning into other languages. Different English translations may choose different wording, tone or sentence structure even when referring to the same Arabic verse.
Scroll My Faith labels the translation so readers can distinguish the source text from a translated rendering.
A better way to read short verses
Use short verses as an invitation to read more. Look at the surrounding passage, compare translations, and consider traditional commentary when a verse raises a theological or historical question.
Use Scroll My Faith to move from reading about a topic to seeing passages from multiple traditions, one swipe at a time.
